Phraya Chularatchamontri
(San - Ahmadchula)

Phraya Chularatchamontri (San) was the son of Phraya Ratchamontri (Sin) and Khunying Phae. San was born in 1868.

In his youth, he received training in government administration from Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Srisuriyawong (Chuang Bunnag), whom the Muslims of the Thonburi intersection referred to as "Dato Somdet."

Later, San became a royal page during the reign of King Chulalongkorn and was royally appointed as "Luang Ratchasethi," attached to the Department of the Right Harbor within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

When the Ministry of Justice established a court of justice, Luang Ratchasethi was transferred to the ministry as a financial officer. He was later promoted to Chief Clerk of the International Court.

Upon the passing of King Chulalongkorn on October 23, 1910, King Vajiravudh ascended to the throne. Two years later, Phra Ratchasethi (San) was graciously appointed by the King to be Phraya Chularatchamontri (San), the seventh person to hold the title in the Rattanakosin Kingdom.

Phraya Chularatchamontri (San) requested the royally-bestowed surname "Ahmadchula" from King Vajiravudh on July 5, 1913. The surname was granted on July 27, 1913.

This surname was designated for the bloodline descendants of Sheikh Ahmad through Phraya Chularatchamontri (Konkaew). This lineage is also considered to be the same as that of the Bunnag family.

Phraya Chularatchamontri (San) passed away on Friday, April 22, 1923, at the age of 57. His body was buried at the cemetery of the Ton Son Mosque at the mouth of the Bangkok Yai canal.
