Elevating public-private sector collaboration and leveraging Thai Halal standards to expand trade and export opportunities in the global market.

Thursday, October 8, 2026
Pol. Maj. Gen. Surin Palare, Secretary-General of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT), assigned Dr. Ali Khan, Deputy Secretary-General of CICOT, to attend the 1st meeting (2026) of the Working Group on Promoting Thai Business Standards with ASEAN (ASEAN and Logistics Sector, 2026–2028 term) at the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
The meeting aimed to discuss strategies for fostering cooperation and promoting Thai business standards to facilitate integration with ASEAN member countries and international markets. Key topics included:
1. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) standards
2. Halal standards
3. Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy standards
Regarding Halal standards, CICOT places great importance on the continuous promotion and development of Thailand’s Halal certification system. This effort adheres to Islamic religious principles while simultaneously aligning standards with internationally recognized requirements and practices.
Thailand’s Halal certification system is currently recognized by agencies and markets worldwide. This serves as a vital foundation for enhancing the potential of Thai entrepreneurs and increasing opportunities to access Halal product and service markets—both within the ASEAN region and globally.
CICOT recognizes the importance of integrating cooperation among government agencies. ...the industrial and trade sectors, as well as relevant agencies, to tangibly link the Thai Halal certification system with the nation's economic and export promotion policies.
This is particularly aimed at empowering Thai entrepreneurs to leverage Halal standards to add value to products, build consumer confidence, expand market channels, and enhance competitiveness in high-potential industries—such as food and beverages, cosmetics, health products, and the service and tourism sectors.
Furthermore, fostering collaboration with economic, trade, and industrial agencies presents a vital opportunity to support SMEs, develop the Halal supply chain, and expand exports to member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as well as Halal consumer markets worldwide.
Driving Thailand’s Halal economy must go hand-in-hand with upholding Islamic religious principles, transparency, and the credibility of the Halal certification system—elements that are fundamental to maintaining the trust of consumers and international trade partners.
The Central Islamic Council of Thailand stands ready to collaborate with all sectors—within its respective roles and mandates—to promote Thai Halal standards as a key mechanism for creating economic opportunities, increasing trade value, and fostering the sustainable growth of Thailand’s export sector.
We extend our gratitude to the Federation of Thai Industries and all working group members for prioritizing the development of Halal standards and for collaboratively seeking ways to harness Thailand’s potential for long-term economic development.
